Hi, my name is Matt Skallerud, President of Pink Media. We're a company with almost 30 years of experience in the LGBTQ+ media, advertising and marketing world, starting with an LGBTQ+ website back in the 90s, growing that to one of the largest LGBTQ+ media companies worldwide, and then selling it and moving on to a role where we simply did what we enjoyed best: Helping companies reach the coveted LGBTQ+ demographic online. What started out as banner ad placements and e-mail campaigns evolved into mobile app placements, video and of course, social media.
So where are we at in today's world of LGBTQ+ media and marketing strategies in all of their forms, including blogs, articles, videos and more?
Well first, let’s start talking about “PR Refugees”!
One area that has stood out in the work we've done with clients, large and small, that have put a press release out there, gotten themselves millions of "potential" impressions and yet ended up with almost no results. No sales. Very few click-throughs to their website for folks to learn more. No noticeable bump in social media engagement nor followers. We've been working with these "PR refugees" for years now, taking their content and helping them get the exposure and results they're looking for via targeted LGBTQ+ social media placements, as well as select LGBTQ+ media coverage on a case-by-case basis.
We've helped book authors get book sales by reaching an LGBTQ+ audience that had actually shown an interest in book genres similar to theirs.
We've helped music artists get streaming downloads in a similar fashion.
We’ve helped tourism companies book travel, destinations bring in increased LGBTQ+ visitors, the list goes on.
As an example, we've worked with the tourism office in Palm Springs to promote their destination to LGBTQ+ travelers. Teaming up with The Nomadic Boys and Two Bad Tourists, we worked with these travel blogger/influencers to take their own Palm Springs content they've recently created and promote it via their blog, their social media networks, their e-mail newsletters and more, while bringing Visit Palm Springs increased visibility along the way. We've done similar work with Visit Britain, Visit Greater Miami CVB, Visit Lauderdale, Toronto CVB, Tourism Office of Spain and more.
In this way, we're helping the client reach THEIR audience, which measures in the hundreds of thousands of engaged website visitors and social media followers. This campaign proved so successful that now the goal is to identify additional LGBTQ+ travel bloggers & influencers with Palm Springs content in order to duplicate this strategy with a wider array of LGBTQ+ voices and LGBTQ+ audiences, as well as to simply provide a wider variety of tourism points of view these various media folks bring to the table.
That's what brings us to where we're at today with our #ILoveGay Content Marketing Ad Network. By taking this strategy and our years of experience in helping companies large and small to get their "story to tell" out there to a wider yet more relevant and targeted LGBTQ+ audience, we've now taken this to a whole new level, with a wider variety of LGBTQ+ media, including bloggers, videographers, influencers and more. Our reach now measures in the several millions of LGBTQ+ engaged individuals worldwide. We've seen ad networks through the years help companies reach a wider audience with banner ads... but in the LGBTQ+ space, we are one of the first companies to focus this concept of an ad network in the world of PR, content, video, blogs and more, helping to put that content to work while reaching the client's specific LGBTQ+ demographic with a targeted LGBTQ+ audience online.
We've also developed strategies to help incorporate these content marketing assets into banner ad campaigns, e-mail campaigns, mobile app placements, video online and on connected TVs and more.
We're excited about taking these tried and true strategies we've honed over the past few years and bringing them into this new future in LGBTQ+ media, where content and storytelling in all its forms is king!
